Bring Value to Your ERG

With 30+ years of growing organizations like yours, we know: ERG / BRG Leaders are Driven, Selfless, and Savvy. Leaders like you, who answer the call to organize, design, host, and manage Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)—on top of already busy schedules—are a breed apart. Your group is lucky to have you and your company is better because of you.

We applaud all that you do. But we also want to help make your job a little bit easier. Here are a few ideas of how you can easily bring value to your ERG.

1. Do less. Yes, you read that correctly... do less. What can your groups do to combine efforts with other internal or external community groups, so work can be distributed and your members and board leaders have more time to participate in the events and truly celebrate and savor successes?

2. When was the last time your CEO (CxyzAnything) met your members? Invite corporate brass to make guest appearances at your meetings.

3. Engage more employees as speakers. Are members and non-member employees presenting & speaking enough? Be your company's best "Speakers Bureau" to showcase talent internally & externally.

4. Like the old TV Series, "Cheers," people like coming to a place where "Everyone Knows Your Name"... What things can you do outside the scheduled ERG / BRG meetings to promote friendship and belonging?

5. Replace a few ERG "Board" Meetings with ERG Membership Drives. Have a party making member calls, texts and social media together & raise the roof! Doing this as a team exercise bonds leaders and it's fun.

6. Help members build their careers and skills. What is your group doing to help members get promotions, recognition, and increased job viability?

7. Hire an outside speaker. Save yourself the extra prep time and hire a speaker, such as AristaLearn, to come to your next meeting to do the speaking for you.
